USA Sends Researchers To Nigeria To Learn How To Control Ebola

Ebola

The United States has witnessed it’s first case of Ebola, and is looking to Nigeria for understanding how to contain the virus.

The Centre For Disease Control (CDC) in the US has been impressed with Nigeria’s management of the crisis, with director Tom Freiden stating that Nigeria’s “extensive response to a single case of Ebola shows that control is possible with rapid, focused interventions.”

Nigeria’s success has grabbed attention from U.S. officials hoping to prevent transmission of the virus in America, after Liberian Thomas Eric Duncan was diagnosed with Ebola in Dallas.

On Wednesday, Duncan, 42, died at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.

The CDC is sending researchers to Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, to study how the country was able to control the disease.
