Less than a week ago, the son of a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Alamesiagha, Olams, a student in Dubai, was reported dead in Dubai under mysterious circumstances. Reports stated that he committed suicide, but apparent information seems to suggest he must have been murdered.

Just a few months ago, a similar incident occurred to Toba Falode, the son of TV veteran Aisha Falode, also a student, who was killed in mysterious circumstances, the case has not been investigated by the Dubai Authorities.

However, apart from the two cases, a number of deaths of Nigerians have occurred in Dubai. Concerns regarding this are springing up as the notion is that as long as Nigerians continue to be killed in unexplainable circumstances, and Nigeria does not demand thorough investigations, such killings will continue to go unchallenged.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday 22 October, 2014 passed a motion sponsored by Hon. Abike Dabiri, Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora Affairs, demanding full investigation into these deaths

She demanded for full investigation unto the death of the two Nigerians, and others that have reportedly died in Dubai.

The motion directs that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Nigerian Embassy in Dubai must demand thorough investigation into the deaths of Olams Alamesiagha, Toba Falode and all the Nigerians reportedly killed in Dubai and report to the House within one month.
