Liverpool showed great character and depth in their bench to come from behind and beat Swansea to qualify for their 20th league cup quarter final
Liverpool had fallen behind to an Emnes Volley in the 65th minute after a fairly cagey first and second half. Liverpool started to press for an equalizer and were rewarded in the 85th minute when Balotelli ran on to Borini’s cross to send the ball into the net with a half volley. Fernandenz of Swansea was harshly sent off after Kevin Friend ajudjed the defender to have tackled Coutinho with malicious intent. Deep into stoppage time, Liverpool won a free kick and when Coutinho pulled it in, the Swansea goalie completely mistimed the flight of the ball and allowed Dejan Lovren to head into an empty net and wins the game for Liverpool.
