Southampton put 8 past Sunderland

southampton vs sunderland

In the most outstanding scoreline this weekend, Southampton continued their unpredicted impressive start to the season with the 8-0 trouncing of Sunderland.

Sunderland had no answers for the unrelenting Southampton side and an own goal by Vergini and a penalty converted by Cork either side of Pelle’s 22nd minute strike meant the game was done and susted in the first half but Southampton wanted more and kept firing from all cylinders in the second half. Bridcutt put the ball past his keeper before Pelle found the net again in the 68th minute, ten minutes later Tadic put his name on the score sheet and exactly one minute later, Wanyama joined the party. Sadi Mane made it 8 in the 86th minute and Sunderland were completely blown away.

It would be fair to say that both managers were shocked by the scoreline.
