A 56-year-old Sudanese UN employee who was infected with the Ebola virus disease in Liberia and arrived in Germany on Thursday for treatment has died in st Georg clinic Leipig despite undergoing intensive medical care.
Two Ebola patients have been previously treated by Germany – a Senegalese expert who was treated in Hamburg and a Ugandan doctor still undergoing treatment in Frankfurt. On Monday, the UN and US leaders called for more international efforts to tackle Ebola after Liberia medics demanded what they termed danger money to treat patients.
There are 8300 confirmed cases worldwide, 4033 total deaths worldwide and an expected 1,400,000 cases by January 2015.
