It was another good day at the Santiago Bernabeau as Real Madrid kept their title hopes a live with a victory over Eibar thanks to goals by Cristiano Ronaldo, Javier Hernandez and Jesse Rodriguez.
Ancelotti fielded a few fringe players including Hernandez, Jesse and Khedira against Eibar as he seemed to be resting players in anticipation of their UEFA champions league clash with Atletico Madrid. It took 21 minutes for Real Madrid to take the lead as Ronaldo hammered in a freekick from 30 yards that bounced right past the Eibar goalkeeper into the net. 10 minutes later, Hernandez was on hand to nod in Arbeloa’s cross to make it 2-0 as the Mexican was making his first starting appearance for Madrid since October. Real Madrid continued to dominate the match in the second half but created few chances before Jesse got hold of the ball in the midfield, ran at the defense, shrugged off the challenge of a defender before firing into the bottom corner to make it 30 in the 83rd minute ans seal the game.
The only bad news from the otherwise good game for Real Madrid is the fact that captain, Sergio Ramos had to leave the pitch with a thigh injury.
