Everton In Move For Vermaelen

Roberto Martinez is looking to strengthen his defense for next season and has identified former Arsenal Captain, Thomas Vermaelen as a possible candidate to help bring stability and experience to his back four.

Vermaelen has not played a competitive game for Barcelona since joining the Catalonian giants from Arsenal in the summer as he has struggled with injuries. Vermaelen might not be able to command a first team shirt at Barcelona as his fitness might end up being an issue and Pique has finally found the form that made him so dear to Barcelona fans as well as Maschearano and Bartra all playing well for the club. Everton would be a good option for the Belgian and Everton are reported to be very keen on the player who can function as a central defender or a left full back.

Everton might have to make a loan offer for Vermaelen first as Barcelona might not be willing to sell him immediately and Everton would want to assess the player before making his move permanent
