Manchester United manager, Louis Van Gaal has come under criticism by Argentine football legend, Diego Maradona for his treatment of on loan striker, Radamel Falcao.
Falcao has struggled for form since joining Manchester United at the start of the season from Monaco on loan and recently, the Colombian had struggled for game time. Falcao’s performance however for Colombia in the recent international friendlies raised suspicions as to whether his performances at Manchester United were not his fault but rather the fault of the manager. Maradona was quick to voice his disappointment at the former Netherlands manager, describing him as next to the Devil in an interview ‘Van Gaal is not a cool guy. He is closer to the devil than anything else. The World Cup was great and I think everyone felt Colombian at least for a while, when James [Rodriguez] or [Juan] Cuadrado had the ball. If Falcao was there, Colombia may be celebrating their first WC glory.’
Falcao might make an appearance on Sunday when Manchester United take on Manchester City in the derby match but if his antecedence is anything to go by, Van Gaal is not about to let public opinions affect his management methods.
