Lagos Commences Issuance Of New Taxi Licenses

The Government of Lagos State has yesterday, presented provisional taxi licenses allocation letters and badges to taxi operators in the state.

According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Kayode Opeifa, the 2012 road traffic law also include the operation of taxis hence, the need for the new taxi policy.

Opeifa disclosed that the provisional allocation letter will among others, enable the state government pursue the transformation in the public transport industry, enhance professionalism, ensure standard and safety of lives of people in the state.

The Commissioner further noted that with the commencement of the new taxi system, only license holders with the state colour of green, yellow, blue and red stripes on their cabs will be able to operate taxi business in Lagos.
