The FA cup us known as a tournament that springs surprises with some of the biggest teams in England and indeed the world being upset by very small teams. And today at Stamford Bridge, we witnessed another upset as Chelsea suffered their first home defeat of the season and were subsequently knocked out of the FA Cup by nPower league one side, Bradford City.
Chelsea started the match brightly and must have thought they hit a jackpot when Gary Cahill rose highest to meet an Oscar corner to nod it home and give Chelsea the lead. Ramires made it 2-0 in the 38th minute as after the Brazilian played a lovely one-two with Salah to go through and knock the ball in. Bradford were quickly back in the game in the 41st minute as Stead sent in a powerful drive past Petr Cech. Chelsea looked to kill the game off in the second half but found themselves level with Bradford as Morais was on hand to knock the ball in from a long throw in the 75th minute. Six minutes later, Bradford stunned Stamford Bridge as Halliday found the back of the net after some wonderful interplay with Stead. Chelsea threw everything forward in search of an equalizer but the London club were punished as Bradford caught the premier league leaders on the counter and Yeates easily knocked the ball past Cech in stoppage time to put the game beyond Chelsea.
Bradford have undoubtedly produced the shock of the tournament.
