Bayern Beaten 4-1 By Wolfsburg

bayern wolfsburg'

Bayern Munich fans would be wondering what happened after their seemingly unstoppable side hit a brick wall at the Volkswagen arena as Wolfsburg players really came out swinging for the fences and two goals each from Dost and De Bruyne were enough to see of the reigning champions.

After a heart melting tribute to the late Junior Malanda, it took only four minutes for a Wolfsburg counter attack to beat the Bayern offside trap and set up Dost with the not so easy task of being one on one with Manuel Neuer. Dost however took his chance in style to give Wolfsburg the lead. Bayern pressed for an equalizer throughout the first half and in the 46th minute, Lewnandowski cleared a set piece right into the path of Dost whose right footed volley looped into the top left corner of Neuer’s goal to make it two nil. After the restart, Bayerns defense was once againg cut open by a through ball which set De Bruyne on his was to coolly slot the ball past Neuer to make it 3-0. two minutes later, Benart’s tap in after Wolfsburg failed to clear their lines reduced the deficit to 3-1 but Bayern did not play with any conviction and in the 73rd minute, a swift counter attack put De Bruyne one on one with Dante and after spinning the Brazilian around, De Bruyne finished beautifully into the top right corner to ensure that Wolfsburg had the final say.

Guadiorla and his men would be terribly disappointed in their performance, but credit must go to Wolfsburg who put in a tactical masterclass to claim the victory.
