Suspected Boko Haram militants who attacked Ashaka town and took over the cement factory in the town on Tuesday reportedly evacuated all dynamites used by the factory in blasting gypsum – a major ingredient used in processing cement.
A worker at the factory who was lucky to escape the attack said that after shooting and bombing some parts of facility, the insurgents broke into the store where the dynamites were being kept and carried them off in a truck.
“All the dynamites were swept away by the terrorists who loaded them into their trucks and left with them”, said the source who begged not to be named.
The stealing of the dynamites has heightened tension among residents of the northeast states, especially Adamawa, Borno, Gombe and Yobe, that there might be increased cases bomb explosions in the days ahead.
