Southampton Beat Manchester United 1-0 At Old Trafford

man u southampton

A very organized performance by Ronald Keoman’s Southampton squad ensured that the Saints earned their first premier league victory at Old Trafford in 27 years.

Manchester United never really looked threatening as they welcomed Di Maria to the starting lineup and Van Gaal’s men struggled to break down a very organized Southampton defense. Tadic brought the game to life in the 70th minute with the first shot on target of the match after coming off the bench to put Pelle through on goal. The Italians shot came off the upright and fell to Tadic who was composed enough to finish into the net despite Blackett being on the line. A late rally by Manchester United was not enough to save the match as Mata spurned two glorious opportunities to equalize.

Southampton have gone two points ahead of Manchester United and leapfrogged the Red Devils into third place.
