Following its successful implementation at the world cup and in the premier league, goal line technology is set to hit Italy as the Serie A will implement goal line technology at the startof the 2015/2016 season.
There have been a few controversies in the Italian league this season over the ball crossing the line or not. Those kinds of controversies were conveniently avoided in the premier league and the Italian football league board held a meeting today and decided on goal line technology for next season. The announcement was made by the FIGC president, Carlo Tavecchio.
Goal line technology features an apparatus that is fitted on the referee’s watch which vibrates whenever the whole of the ball crosses the line, indicating that a goal has been scored.
