Pope Francis Speaks On Charlie Hebdo Attack: “One Shouldn’t Make Fun Of Faith”

The Holy Pontiff, Pope Francis has condemned both parties in the Charlie Hebdo attack.

In an interview, the Holy pontiff said there were limits to free speech, and that killing in the name of religion was wrong.

“There is a limit,” he said, speaking in Italian. “Every religion has its dignity. I cannot mock a religion that respects human life and the human person.”

“One cannot offend, make war, kill in the name of one’s own religion, that is, in the name of God,” Francis said of the attackers. “To kill in the name of God is an aberration.”

“If [a close friend] says a swear word against my mother, he’s going to get a punch in the nose,” he explained. “One cannot provoke, one cannot insult other people’s faith, one cannot make fun of faith.”
