A lone strike from Lazar Markovic was all Liverpool needed to secure all 3 points against Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.
Markovic’s 9th-minute strike ensured the Reds maintained their 5-game unbeaten streak as they closed in on the top four.
Sunderland seem unable to leave their current slump, as they have now won only one in their last eleven, and are just 3 points above the relegation zone.
Having earlier seen a penalty appeal waved away after tumbling under a challenge from Wes Brown, Markovic put Liverpool ahead when he gathered a pass from Fabio Borini and prodded the ball between Costel Pantilimon‘s legs.
