During the weekend, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier Gen. Olawumi Johnson expressed concerns on the delay of payment of corps members’ INEC elections duty allowance.
It was learnt that on Saturday, he requested all corps members that participated in the elections to exercise patience, that everyone will be paid.
Speaking through the official twitter account, @NYSC_NG, the DG “has been very concerned about this. Nobody will rob you of your entitlements.”
A breakdown of the approved allowance for corps members participating in each of the elections:
1. Honorarium – ₦9,000 per election
2. Transportation -₦3,000 per election
3. Feeding allowance -₦1,000 per election
And also if you participated in the March 28 elections but you’re yet to receive your allowance in full, the DG has requested such persons to tweet their details to @NYSC_NG.
That is, your Name, State code and phone number. Also, do mention the amount you’ve received.
Finally, you should tweet back (@NYSC_NG) if by 6PM Tuesday you still haven’t received the said allowance.
It would be recalled, INEC made known her payment package for serving and ex-corps members who will serve as part of the INEC ad-hoc staff in the forthcoming elections, and the take home allowance was N32, 000 for both March 28 and April 11 elections.
