Manchester United fans were bound to be touchy after their shock 3-5 loss to Leicester City, and Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli drew their anger and became the brunt of racial insults.
Balotelli, who was in the Liverpool team that lost 3-1 at West Ham yesterday, tweeted: ‘Man Utd…LOL’ following United’s loss.
His tweet was met by a string of racist messages, including one which read: ‘F*** you Mario you f****** n*****.’
Others tweeted pictures of bananas and told the player to ‘get ebola’.
