Arsenal Knocked Out Of Capital One Cup By Southampton

Arsenal were knocked out of the English league cup this evening as Southampton claimed their first away to Arsenal in 27 years.

Arsenal pressed Southampton into their area early in the first half and threatened and finally took the lead through a beautiful free kick by new signing, Alexis Sanchez. Barely ten minutes later, when Rosicky gave away a foul in the box, Tadic had no problem equalizing from the spot before Clyne’s thumping effort from 30 yards sealed the victory for Southampton. Arsenal struggled to equalize but could not find a way past the dogged Southampton defense.

Southampton are now through to the last sixteen of the capital one cup and would fancy their chances
