Serena Qualifies For US Open Final, Beats Ekaterina

Serena Williams is through to the Final of the US Open as she beat Ekaterina Makarova 6-1, 6-3 earlier this morning.

Following a grand slam season to forget, Serena finally got in her stride in the US Open and has been splendid but her performance against the world number 17 proved why she is still a force to be reckoned with in the sport. Ekaterina was no match for the world number 1 from the first serve as Williams raced to a 3-1 lead in the first set before breaking her opponents serve once again. In the second set, Serena even took a commanding 4-0 lead at some point. Ekaterina who looked overawed by the occasion made a couple of laughable unforced errors.

Serena Williams will now face Caroline Wozniacki in the final of the US Open as she looks to defend the trophy she won last year.
