Rooney Penalty Seals England Win

Wayne Rooney marked his first game as England captain with a goal albeit through a penalty as England beat Norway 1-0 in a friendly.

England lacked quality and drive as they produced another lackluster performance against Norway defense that held firm against the supposed might of the three lions. Raheem Sterlin provided the spark to a rather boring match. In the 67th minute, the Liverpool forward was brought down and the new team captain steeped up to smash in the penalty.

England controlled possession but failed to find any kind of penetration against the Norwegian defense as they lacked the creativity that would unlock defenses.
