Inthenews_#inthenews_360nobs

US officials have said that president Barack Obama is to announce plans to send 3000 troops to Liberia to help fight the Ebola virus disease (EVD). It is understood that the US military will oversee the building of new treatment centers and help in training medical staff.

The president of Ghana, president John Dramani Mahama, on Monday said more and faster outside help was needed to slow the spread of the disease. He also called for the easing of restrictions on West African countries saying it would undermine the fight against the disease.

United Nations officials will at a meeting in Geneva discuss the international response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
