In what was a haphazard second half, Shalke saw 19 year old Platte hit the bar with a volley from outside the box before Marcelo sealed the win in the 79th minute, receiving the ball from Ronaldo on the left, the Brazilian shifted the ball to his weaker right foot before curling a shot into the top right corner from outside the box.
Real Madrid have now equaled Bayern Munich’s record of 10 straight wins in the Champions league and have a chance to surpass it when they take on Shalke in two weeks’ time in Madrid.
