Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has been forced to withdraw his CR7 footwear range after Nike threatened to end his contract with them over the multi-million euro issue.
The World Player of the Year who pockets a reported €9 million a year from the American company, took their threat likely.
According to Spanish daily Sport, Ronaldo launched the range of footwear at Milan Shoe Fair last week.
“Nike were not happy and offered the 30-year-old an ultimatum: Drop the footwear range or lose your contract with Nike.
“Nike viewed his move into the footwear market as direct competition and put their foot down,” added the report.
Timeslive also said that Nike had no problem with his underwear and shirt line but “viewed his move into the footwear market as direct competition”.
