Emerging reports have it that not less than 300 Boko Haram insurgents have been killed, on Wednesday, while many others were reported captured by Troops during an ongoing six-week counter-insurgency operation in North Eastern Nigeria.
In a statement released by the Defence spokesperson, Major General, Chris Olukolade, he revealed that the multiple casualty on the insurgents is a result of the ongoing air and land operation in the area in the past two days.
PremiumTimes revealed that a number of weapons and equipment were also captured while some were destroyed during the operation.
5 armoured vehicles, 1 anti-aircraft gun, 50 cases of packed bombs, 8 different types of machine guns and 5 rocket propelled grenade were among those allegedly recovered from the operation.
Mr Olukolade further disclosed that 49 boxes of various types and calibres of ammunition, 300 motorcycles, 6 Hilux vehicles, including those mounted with anti-aircraft guns, were destroyed.
Although, two soldiers were reported dead during the operation while 10 others were wounded, the spokesperson assured Nigerians that troops will continue to ensure that 11 communities [Monguno, Gabchari, Abba Jabari, Zuntur, Gajigana, Gajiram, Damakar, Kumaliwa, Bosso Wanti, Jeram and Kabrisungul] now dominated by the military is freed of Terrorists.
