Novak Djokovic confirmed his place as the number one tennis player in the world yet again as he beat Andy Murray in four sets in a match that lasted for over three hours despite playing through what looked like two injuries at least.
After the first set went to tie break, Djokovic picked up the win, winning the tie break 7-5 in a set where doctors had to check the Serbian’s thumb. Murray took the second set on another tie break before Djokovic started to struggle, losing his footing twice in the third set. Despite not being in top physical shape, Djokovic managed to break Murray’s serve and win the set 6-3. Djokovic proved way too technical for the distracted and discouraged Murray who barely put up a fight in the fourth set as Djokovic cleared him out 6-0 to claim his eighth grand slam win.
Murray who is sadly becoming the perennial underachiever of world tennis would live to fight another day having played in the Australian open final four times, losing on all four occasions
