Borussia Dortmund’s season may not be going the way they or anyone else for that matter expected it to go but amidst all the chaos, good news: Marco Reus has signed a new four year deal with the club.
Reus looked destined to leave the club despite having two years left on his current deal at the club. Reus was a top target for Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City and Dortmund’s abysmal season currently seas them 16 in the Bundesliga (keep in mind that there are only 18 teams in the German league) was another factor that could have made the Germany international leave. Reus however stuck with Dortmund and today sealed a deal which guarantees a pay raise and a higher release clause.
Dortmund have sealed a deal but this contract might just be Dortmund’s way of ensuring they get a very good price for the German if he should decide to leave at the end of the season
