A second minute Mario Mandzukic strike was enough to give Atletico Madrid the win in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup as the Diego Simeone’s men overcame a star studded Real Madrid side at the Vincente Calderon to give them an aggregate victory over their city rivals

Atletico were ahead as early as the second minute through the big Croatian, Mandzukic who powered pasct Ramos and Varane to meet Raul Garcia’s flick on from a long ball and knock the ball home. Real Madrid who started the match without Ronaldo struggled to create chances. Diego Simeone was sent off for smacking the fourth official in the head in the 26th minute and Modric was sent off in the 91st minute.

Ronaldo was brought on in the second half but that had little bearing on the effect of the match as Atletico kept it tight at the back for the whole match
