#InTheNews: Couple High On Meth Pose For Selfie With Dead Body

Chelsie Berry, 24, and Jared Prier, 26, have been charged with voluntary manslaughter and abandonment of a corpse in the death of 30-year-old Dennis ‘Nathan” Meyer after authorities in south west Missouri said that they posed for a selfie with the dead body of Dennis who died from a drug overdose.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the smoking gun, Chelsie told the police she was hanging out with Meyer on the night of august 21 when he injected himself with a painkiller and narcotic pain reliever, Dilaudid and started acting crazy by saying things, and pulling out his penis.

Berry told police Meyers behavior was bizarre and made her nervous, so she called prier. Acord9ng to the affidavit, Berry hung out in a McDonald restaurant parking lot while Dennis was ‘passed out’ in the vehicle they were using. Police said the trio drove to a convenience store and allegedly checked and discovered he was not breathing.

She allegedly told police she was afraid to call an ambulance because she and Prier were high on meth and Xanax, and instead of getting help, they posed for a selfie with Meyer before moving his body from the front seat to the back seat because he began to smell bad and also the fact that they did not want to look at him any longer.

Accoding to police, they drove around “looking for where to dump the body” before settling for the rural newton driveway where it was later found. according to Missouri.net, authorities are still trying to determine Meyers official cause of death, but drug overdose has been referred as a possible cause.

The pair were taken into police custody on Wednesday after a tipster alerted police to to Facebook photos that allegedly showed them posing with Meyers body.

The couple are both been held in the newton county jail on $50,000 bond.
