A 26 year old football fan meet his untimely death in Yenagoa as the deceased went to watch the match between Nigeria’s Super Falconets and Germany in the just concluded u-20 female world cup final.
The incident occurred at about 1:30 am at a popular bar in Yenagoa. It is not clear what would have prompted the driver of the Honda Utility Van to smash into the crowd that had their eyes fixed on the screen as the game was going on. The driver was said to have driven off from the car wash section of the bar.
One of the people that were lucky enough to dive off the path of the SUV told the police that the deceased used to work for a bakery in the town and this is how he described the incident
“the driver must have stepped fully on the accelerator and drove straight at us. I and some others dived out of his path but the boy was unlucky.
The SUV crushed and dragged the deceased along. and two ladies have also been said to be in critical conditions.
