Kano Pillars Attacked By Robbers

Kano Pillars were on their way to Owerri for their Premier league clash with Heartland when they were attacked by armed robbers, who left five of the Nigerian Premier league champions’ players injured.


The squad were on their way in a 32-seater bus when they were attacked around the Abaji-Lokoja road. Kano Pillars had 18 members of their squad in the bus with four members of the technical crew when the robbers attacked the bus. According to head coach, Okey Emordi, who was riding in a separate car behind the bus. The armed robbers shot several times in the air and requested for money and the players obliged but the robbers still went on to assault a few of the players. Gambo Muhammed, Eneji Otekpa, Adamu Murtala, Reuben Ogbonnaya and Ubong Ekpai were all injured with Gambo suffering several injuries to his arm. There was thankfully no casualty following the incident.


The players are currently receiving medical treatment at the Federal Medical Center in Lokoja. The Nigerian Premier League board is yet to make an announcement concerning the Kano Pillar’ fixture against Heartland.
