A soccer player in Peru, Joao Contreras Fuentes, was lucky to have survived after he got struck by a lightning bolt on the field of play.
In the amazing video, the lightning bolt comes so fast that in less than a second, Fuentes and a nearby linesman go from standing waiting for the match to begin lo lying down on the floor.
According to Peruvian news site Trome, Fuentes is set to spend a few days recovering, but he should be OK. According to the hospital director Thomas Párraga, “the lightning broke through his face, pierced the chest and exited through his left calf, without damaging the heart.”
