Lionel Messi is the best forward in 2015, while his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo is 29th in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo who won the ballon d’or this year has been abysmal on the pitch after winning the award.
This projection is the result of the study conducted by the CIES Football Observatory. The observatory analysed the performances of footballers in the top leagues in Europe since January 1.
The rankings take into account important statistics for the various roles. With Messi netting 17 goals in 12 La Liga matches this year, it is no surprise that he is galaxies ahead of rival, Cristiano Ronaldo who has scored 6 goals in 11 games this year. Ronaldo ranked 29 is ahead of teammates, Bale (35) and Benzema (37). The dip in form of both the team and forward has been put into numbers and numbers do not lie.
Diego Costa is the leading premier league forward at fifth, he comes in behind Bayern’s Robben, Wolfsburg’s Bas Dost and Barcelona’s Suarez.
The study focused on other positions also.
