Tim Sherwood is finally coming good for Aston Villa as he guided his Aston Villa side to their first FA Cup Semifinal appearance since 2010 as they beat West Brom 2-1 to advance to the Semifinal.
Both teams were reduced to ten men as they played out a thrilling encounter in which neither team could break the deadlock as both sides squandered good opportunities in the first half. 6 minutes into the second half however, Fabian Delph was left in too much space on the edge of the 18 yard box and the England midfielder drilled a shot into the net to give Villa the lead. As West Brom searched for an equalizer, Yacob let his frustration get the better of him and got himself sent off in the 79th minute for a second bookable offence. Aston Villa made their numerical advantage count, as Scott Sinclair got on the end of a Jack Grealish pass to unleash a shot into the top corner of the net to make it 2-0. Aston villa were later reduced to 10 men as Grealish received marching orders after getting a second yellow card. Aston Villa held on to claim a priceless win.
Aston Villa would be gearing up for the semifinal clash against yet to be announced opponents. Not bad for Sherwood, getting to Wembley after spending just weeks on the job at Aston Villa.
