Hope may still exist for the return of over 200 school girls abducted in a secondary school in Chibok, Borno state.

According to the state’s governor, Kashim Shettima, the girl are still alive, and are held in separate camps inside the Sambisa forest.

The secretary to the Borno state government, Ambassador Baba Jidda affirmed that the girls were still being held by Boko Haram but said that their safe return was beyond the state government.

“The issue of Chibok girls is a national and indeed an international issue, and we still haven’t heard anything positive about their possible return, especially alive. So, we are praying that this New Year, something tangible would be done by the Federal Government to get back the girls alive to their parents.”
