Manchester United have handed the jersey number 7 to newest signing Angel Di Maria. Di Maria who arrived at Old Trafford for a British record fee of 59.7 million pounds has been described as a player who fits into Manchester United’s philosophy perfectly by van Gaal.
Van Gaal stated during the press conference “For me it is also important that he is a team player and that is what I am liking in Di Maria – not only class, and that he can accelerate the game for us, but that he can also play in the interests of the team.”
Di Maria takes on heavy responsibility as he puts on the jersey number worn by legends like Eric Cantona, David Beckham, George Best and Cristiano Ronaldo. The jersey was vacant at United last season, but with the arrival of Di Maria, Manchester United may just have their new talisman.
